In just three months, the 2010 election cycle is going to be in full swing. Some candidates are declaring now, especially in light of the recent health care reform debate. Campaigns are forming and your PAC will have an opportunity to have a united voice in support or opposition in a number of important races.
But are you ready? Have you been raising enough in the downturn of the economy? Aristotle is seeing many of its client use a different campaign that benefits both the PAC and a worthy cause..let me tell you about PAC Match.
PAC Match allows PACs to offer a contribution to a 501(c)(3) organization of either the PAC contributors choice, PAC Board chosen, etc.
For example, a defense company is doing a campaign where it is matching dollar for dollar to the PAC up to $25,000 for a fallen soldier fund.
A transportation client of ours allows its employees to pick up to 3 charities to write a check to that matches its total 2009 PAC contributions. The connected organization of the PAC can write the check to the charity.
The company however cannot use this as a tax deduction. Other ways to use the PAC Match program is to run a drive for one month with a goal of 20% new participants and every dollar raised gets matched, or .50 cents to a dollar. There are so many different ways to utilize this program and its up to you to decide what works best for your culture.
At the end of the day, this program helps you deepen your war chest for 2010 and allows your contributors to find another way to give back to a charity of their choice.
If your PAC is interested in running a program like this, please contact me. We manage and help run these programs for our clients- it’s a feel good campaign for all involved.

Once the desired amount is raised, the PAC’s connected organization can write the check to the charity - it cannot however, use this as a tax deduction.
Ultimtely, this program is a win-win – it helps you deepen your war chest for 2010 and offers your contributors a new way to give to charity.
