District Matching Data Set

District Match Data Set

Aristotle has several avenues for making its renowned legislator district matching technology available to our clients, depending on their needs. Our District Match Data Set (DMDS) is an integrated set of data files that allows clients to integrate Aristotle’s COSMOS data into their own applications. The coverage options (nationwide, states only, federal only) of these data files can be configured to meet specific client data requirements – you won’t have to pay for data you don’t need!

Nationwide Coverage

Our DMDS is available for the entire nation or a single state. Our nationwide dataset contains all of the nine-digit ZIP codes in the country along with tables containing their corresponding congressional, state senate and state house district codes, legislator ID codes and related legislator information for every U.S. senator, U.S. representative, state senator, and state representative. The legislator information provided includes:

  • District name
  • District and capitol addresses
  • Phone and fax numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Websites (where available)
  • Committee and sub-committee assignments

Our nationwide federal-only data set contains only the district assignments and legislator information for U.S. senators and U.S. representatives.

In addition to our two nationwide data sets, we also are able to provide a data set for a particular state or group of states. Each state data set consists of the nine-digit ZIP codes located within the licensed state, the corresponding congressional, state senate and state house district codes, and related legislator information. All of the data sets include customer support and regular updates.

Regular Updates, Limitless Options

Our annual agreements provide clients the ability to stay absolutely up to date on any nine-digit ZIP code additions or modifications (up to 2 million monthly, nationwide), legislative district boundary changes (due to passed legislation or litigation) and legislator information changes (due to special elections, etc.).

Our data files are designed to work in multiple environments, including mainframe, mini computers, and PCs, and they are available in a variety of formats (ASCII, dBase, EBCDIC) and on multiple media types (CD-ROM, diskette, nine-track tape). Additionally, the programs created to access the files can be written in almost any language.
